• Amide groups in PMIA and ether oxygen bonds in PDOL enable rapid Li+ transport kinetics. • Competitive Li+-amide coordination strengthens −C−O−C− bond energy and high-voltage stability of PMIA@PDOL. • LiF/Li2O-rich SEI layer guarantees high interface stability and high performance of Li metal batteries.
