Sparse sequences with remarkable correlation properties are useful in modern communication systems for achieving a low power spectral-density profile. This motivates us to investigate sparse complete complementary codes (CCCs), which have ideal aperiodic auto- and cross-correlation sums. In this paper, we first propose a general construction of sparse CCCs based on restricted generalized Boolean functions (RGBFs). More CCCs can be obtained from the proposed generating functions. Next, inspired by the recent work of Pai et al., the aperiodic correlations of the constituent sequences in the constructed sparse CCCs are investigated. We further show that all the constituent sequences of the sparse CCCs exhibit ideal aperiodic correlation properties within a zero correlation zone (ZCZ), which has not been reported in the literature.
