Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
• Seasonal, interannual, and intraseasonal variability were analyzed for their influence on the event ratio of hydrometeorological disasters in Indonesia, utilizing government data from 2008 to 2023. • Event ratios for floods, landslides, and extreme weather during NDJFM were 243.33%, 297.51%, and 289.96% higher, respectively, compared to MJJAS, whereas wildfires and droughts were 278.32% and 1371.33% more frequent during MJJAS than NDJFM. • Significant positive trends in floods, landslides, and extreme weather events were observed during MJJAS, while wildfires exhibited a notable increase during NDJFM, underscoring the growing challenges of disaster preparedness in Indonesia. • Weekly ENSO and IOD indices demonstrated the dominant role of interannual variability in modulating wet and dry hydrometeorological disasters, with negative (positive) phases amplifying (reducing) events during MJJAS. • The influence of MJO and BSISO phases was consistently observed in the increased event ratio of floods, landslides, and extreme weather events.
