In this issue of IEEE Internet Computing, we included articles that tackle key technical challenges in immersive computing systems and applications. The first articleA1 focuses on establishing principled and reproducible benchmarking methodologies for extended reality (XR) systems, enabling systematic evaluation of performance, resource usage, and user experience. The second articleA2 explores the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) with XR to enable scalable content creation and more natural, intuitive user interactions. The third articleA3 examines the use of large multimodal models for automated, human-aligned assessment of augmented reality scenes, proposing architectures that support real-time and scalable quality evaluation. Finally, the last articleA4 addresses uncertainty-aware digital twin modeling by leveraging multifidelity data fusion and conformal prediction to support reliable, real-time immersive interactions with physical systems.
