• Large-scale causal analysis of the impact of ChatGPT on the Stack Overflow content. • Due to ChatGPT, questions on Stack Overflow are longer with longer code examples. The results are robust and hold in short-term (a few weeks after the ChatGPT start) and long-term (a few months after the start). • In the post-ChatGPT period, the questions are becoming more difficult and deal with more sophisticated programming concepts as compared to the period before ChatGPT. • Our results are robust across thematic categories and programming languages.
