Abstract

Abstract

• State-dependent fragility methods quantify stability and collapse risk of vaulted bi-layered reticulated shells. • FEMA P-695-compliant IDAs reveal collapse acceleration is highly sensitive to span length and roof height-to-span ratio. • Pinching4 simulations capture brittle response; height-to-span ratios >0.15 cause wall-like behavior and abrupt instability. • Hybrid framework uses drift ratios and Park–Ang damage index to define occupancy, life safety, and collapse thresholds. • Damage index fragilities predict more conservative demand than drift limits, reflecting shell brittleness and aiding design.
