Purpose: The practice of therapeutic nuclear medicine in several medical centers in Latin America is wellrecognized including diverse treatment modalities and operational methodologies. This study aimed to evaluate the status of radionuclide treatments in Argentina, with particular interest in investigating whether dosimetry calculations are performed. Methods: The official databases of nuclear medicine licenses valid in 2021 were analyzed based on the demographic distribution across the different Argentine provinces. A web survey was conducted between October and November 2021 in nuclear medicine centers, focusing on the applied strategies for 10 different radionuclide therapies. Results: The number of nuclear medicine licenses per million inhabitants in Argentina showed the highest value in the city of Buenos Aires while two provinces do not have any license in force at the time of this study. A total of 26 survey responses suitable for analysis was received from Argentine nuclear medicine centers, comprising 19 % of the total institutions performing therapeutic nuclear medicine in the country. Of these, 23 centers indicated practicing radionuclide treatments, being most common the use of [131I] sodium iodide for thyroid diseases, and [223Ra]RaCl2 for sclerotic metastases. Most therapies were prescribed based on fixed-activity or standardizedactivity protocols. Conclusions: The available nuclear medicine therapies in Argentina in 2021 were based mainly on [131I]sodium iodide, and [223Ra]RaCl2. In contrast, [90Y] microspheres, and [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-TATE treatments were scarcely implemented. Dosimetry calculations were rarely performed and were conducted in complicated cases of Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma or [90Y] microsphere therapies.
