• A spatio-temporal enhanced (STE) model incorporating temporal and spatial features is constructed. • A spatio-temporal enhanced residual smoothing (STE-RS) framework for UAV anomaly detection is proposed. • The effectiveness of STE-RS is validated using UAV flight data with high-dimensional and complex features. • Some explanations for anomalies or root causes are provided.
