Optical coatings of colored appearance and high near-infrared transmission can be applied in various applications. This study presents a novel white camouflage structure featuring high near-infrared direct transmittance that is based on structural color designs and the principle of refractive index matching. Unlike conventional structural-color configurations, our approach adopts multilayer dielectric reflectors being deposited on rough transparent substrates. This design enhances high diffuse reflection in the visible, thereby producing white appearance. By applying an index-matching layer onto the microstructure surface, high near-infrared direct transmittance rather than diffuse transmittance is achieved with scattering at near-infrared wavelengths being suppressed. The proposed structure offers a new paradigm for designing camouflage filters that maintain high direct transmittance in targeted spectral bands, which has great potential in areas such as autonomous driving, smart home systems, optical camouflage, anti-counterfeiting, etc.
