• Structural properties of neutral microemulsions are studied. • The sol-gel transition is analyzed as a function of , T, and n(D-PEO-D). • Molecular dynamics simulations are performed using an effective interaction potential. • Uncoated microemulsions show a sol-gel transition near = 39 to 39.5% at 298 K. • D-PEO-D polymers promote gel formation and tune the transition temperature.
