Eco-friendly solid polymer electrolytes (SPE) are promising candidates for improving the safety and thermal stability of energy storage materials, although their application is often limited by low ionic conductivity at room temperature. In this study, a choline chloride-glycerol deep eutectic solvent (DES) was synthesized and used as a plasticizer to investigate its effect on the structural and ionic transport properties of NaCMC/LiTFSI SPE membranes. FTIR analysis revealed a shift of the -OH stretching band from 3461 to 3286 cm-1, indicating hydrogen bonding interactions within DES. The SPE membranes were prepared by solution casting with DES contents up to 30 wt%. Ionic conductivity increased reaching an optimum value of 1.82 & times; 10- 2 S cm- 1 for the NaCMC/LiTFSI (70/30) membrane containing 30 wt% DES. The optimum composition exhibited appropriate mechanical properties, demonstrating a tensile strength of 10.79 MPa, an elongation at break of 82.39%, and a flexibility (Young's modulus) of 13.09 MPa. The results further revealed a crystallinity degree of 48.82%, with XRD analysis indicating reduced crystallinity, while TGA confirmed thermal stability up to 240 degrees C. These findings demonstrate that DES incorporation enhances physical properties of NaCMC-based SPEs.
