• A progressive increase in Bi content leads to a clear reduction in elastic moduli and hardness, indicating lattice softening and a decline in atomic packing strength. • Higher Bi levels markedly enhance γ-ray attenuation, reflected by increased LAC values and a notable reduction in HVL. • The Bi30–Sn10–Al60 alloy shows the most efficient shielding response while maintaining a non-toxic and environmentally sustainable composition. • Overall, these alloys provide a lightweight, lead-free, and economically viable option for advanced radiation shielding applications.
