• A novel optical-electrical-thermal coupling model for CdTe-PVGF is proposed. • A full-scale experimental platform was established to validate the proposed coupling model. • Effects of light transmittance and climatic zones on CdTe-PVGF optical-electrical-thermal performance were investigated. • The active-area-specific electrical performance of CdTe PV cells at different light-transmittance levels was analyzed.
