Abstract

The fabrication of superior triboelectric materials is urgently demanded for diverse applications in the Internet of Things and intelligence era, but it is limited by film preparation strategy. This work proposes a novel strategy namely solid-state polymer forging (SSPF) to prepare high-performance triboelectric polymer films. Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer (ECTFE) membrane reinforced by solid-state polymer forging exhibits excellent triboelectric performances and mechanical properties, the output charge density, short-circuit current and open-circuit voltage are 307 mu C/m2, 45.8 mu A and 337 V, which are 29.0%, 55.3% and 21.2% higher than those of control sample, respectively. The surface potential, crystallinity, crystal size, molecular structure and dielectric constant can be effectively tailored under SSPF, leading to promoting the output of ECTFE TENG. This work can construct a promising avenue toward rational design for triboelectric materials and provide a series of possible breakthroughs of various superior TENGs.
