• Zn modification of ZSM-5 generates highly dispersed Zn Lewis acid sites. • Accessible Zn Lewis acid sites promote efficient PET glycolysis. • Nearly complete PET conversion is achieved within 30 min with high Zn utilization efficiency. • Catalyst maintains activity over ten cycles without regeneration.
