Abstract

Clustering algorithm incurs significant energy consumption for clusters and its Cluster Heads (CH) in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). WSN brings a new attention over a real-time intelligent system with its limitations and gained more research challenges. In last few years, WSN can be used and seen in many real time applications like disaster management, pollution monitoring, temperature monitoring, traffic monitoring, transport monitoring, healthcare monitoring, battlefield surveillance and border security surveillance. In these applications, plenty of sensor nodes are used and they are deployed in the sensing field which often transmits information to Base Station (BS) automatically by means of energy (i.e. battery present in the sensor). Clustering is one of the techniques used in WSN to utilize the energy efficiently by the sensor node. Clustering is a process of grouping the sensor nodes into clusters and each cluster will have a cluster head. This paper provides the survey on a distinct clustering algorithm for WSN which is classified based on distinct clustering attributes.
