• Synergistic Co/P doping modulates electronic structure and morphology. • Anode loading promotes a singlet oxygen-dominated nonradical pathway. • Conjugated g-C3N4/C composite boosts conductivity and charge transfer. • Achieves >95% SMX degradation within 5 min with excellent stability. • DFT confirms reduced electron transfer barrier and enhanced orbital hybridization.
