Abstract

• A novel Cu2Co3Zr1-MOF-SHM material was successfully designed for vanillyl alcohol oxidation by flowing air. • Zr doping enhances electron delocalization and optimizes acidity, synergizing with Cu-Co sites to promote oxygen activation. • The catalyst exhibits exceptional catalytic performance, affording a 96.6% conversion of vanillyl alcohol and 74.8% selectivity for vanillin under mild conditions. • The catalyst exhibits remarkable recyclability, retaining >90% activity after six consecutive cycles. • This work paves the way for the green synthesis of biomass-derived carbonyl compounds via a rational polymetallic MOF strategy.
