Abstract

• A series of novel 2,2′-bypyridine-carbazole hybrid fluorophores has been synthesized. • Obtained compounds exhibit blue luminescence with absolute quantum yield values up to 58.3% and SS values up to 181 nm. • Solvent effectshave been estimated via Lippert-Mataga equation. The data indicates a presence of ICT-fluorescence. • Two of the obtained 2,2′-bipyridines exhibit a turn-off fluorescent response to Picric Acid.
