An efficient methodology for accessing α,α-difluoro-α-selanylmethylated ketones has been developed using diselenides and water with PhI(OAc)2 as the oxidant under milder conditions. Gram-scale experiments were performed, demonstrating the feasibility of large-scale preparation and potential for further chemical biology studies.
