• Pue-pre protects the vascular endothelium and alleviates DIE damage-induced ferroptosis. • Pue targets binding to DDAHⅡ and regulates ADMA/eNOS/NO pathway. • Pue-pre activates adaptive autophagy, attenuates Fe2+ level, oxidative stress and abnormal lipid metabolism. • Pue-pre improves energy metabolism and prevents mitochondrial dysfunction. • Pue provides dual protection against DIE damage.
