• Pearl oyster larvae were cultured at 23 °C and 28 °C under laboratory conditions reflecting Hong Kong’s temperatures. • Larvae reared at 23 °C exhibited delayed development and high mortality. • Larvae reared at 28 °C had higher survival and growth. • Larval rearing temperature of 28 °C is recommended for the culture of pearl oyster.
