• Behavioral speedup in probability cueing scales with spatial bias strength. • Target-elicited N2pc amplitude surprisingly decreased at high-probability locations. • The benefit is driven by a temporal acceleration of attention (earlier N1pc). • Latency analysis shows attention onset 28–44 ms earlier for high-probability targets.
