Abstract
En 中文
This article proposes an architecture and methodology for ultra-high-speed DSL connectivity. Known measurements of single-wire copper waveguide modes are extrapolated to a multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) or, equivalently, Vectored DSL model for a binder of twisted pairs. These modes use sub-millimeter-wave and millimeter-wave frequency bands, and leverage some of the work and exciting positive results in next-generation wireless systems to address coupling and excitation of the waveguide modes. Projections beyond the known regimes indicate that significantly higher speeds may be achieved than any current DSLs that use the transmission-line method. Some consideration of practical twisted-pair effects and projected associated complexity are also provided. This work's intent is encouragement and motivation of other researchers to further investigate and evaluate these projections.
