In this paper we propose a method for finding the best linearization of nonlinear ODE problems by L-2-norm. For this means we try to obtain the best approximation of a nonlinear system as a linear time-varying system. Our method for obtaining the above approximation is on the basis of analytic and numerical approaches. Finally we examine our methods to some numerical examples. (c) 2004 Elsevier Inc.
