The diagnostic and prognostic value of serum FBXO11 expression in neonatal sepsis

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between serum FBXO11 expression and serum PCT and CRP levels as well as its diagnostic and prognostic value in neonatal sepsis (NS). This study included 120 patients with NS aged ≤ 28 days, birth weight > 2500 g, and gestational age ≥ 37 weeks. Serum FBXO11 was detected by RT-qPCR. The correlation between FBXO11 and clinical characteristics was assessed using Pearson correlation coefficient. The diagnostic value of FBXO11 in NS was analyzed using the ROC curve. Kaplan–Meier survival curves and multivariate Cox regression were used to evaluate the prognostic role of FBXO11 in NS. Serum FBXO11 expression was upregulated in NS patients (P < 0.001). Serum FBXO11 expression was positively correlated with serum PCT (r = 0.414, P < 0.001) and CRP (r = 0.317, P < 0.001) levels. FBXO11 had diagnostic value for NS (AUC = 0.849). The survival rate over 28 days was lower for NS patients with high levels of FBXO11 expression than for those with low levels (P < 0.001). For NS patients, FBXO11 expression independently predicted death within 28 days (HR = 3.254, 95% CI 1.150–5.136, P = 0.027). FBXO11 expression has the ability to diagnose NS and is associated with poor prognosis in NS patients.
