Abstract

In offering a summary of the articles in the special volume, this foreword attempts to bring gleaning practices into a broader conversation with the blossoming literature on more-than-human worlds. It suggests that these articles on gleaning provide an overall path toward treating the waste of the modern economy as an externality; instead of casting waste out of the system by fiat and law, a gleaning economy insistently keeps waste home, as a vital internality of the system.
