• Public awareness lags behind the rising burden of HPV-related male malignancies. • A profound “blind spot” exists: only 8.9 % identified male HPV-related cancers. • Female sex and academic education are independent predictors of higher literacy. • High vaccine safety awareness does not translate into accurate risk perception. • Clinicians must “degenderize” HPV messaging to improve male preventive care.
