• First evidence that the high-carbohydrate (HC) diet impair skin wound healing inglucose-intolerant turbot. • The HC diet induced hyperglycemia/hyperinsulinemia and delayed wound closure. • The HC diet led to suppression of early re-epithelialization, aberrant inflammation,deficient provisional matrix deposition, collagen production, and angiogenesis. • The HC diet delayed skin wound healing by the suppression of AGEs-MTORHIF1A-driven glycolysis.
