• A last-mile strategy integrating customers’ habits and preferences is posited. • The effect of this strategy combined with alternative delivery points is studied. • The benefits of using advanced customer data in logistics planning are discussed. • A Simulated Annealing metaheuristic is adapted to this last-mile problem formulation. • A simulation environment is developed to validate the research.
