The article argues that the incorporation of artificial intelligence into academia requires a normative pact grounded in scientific integrity, human responsibility, and transparency in the uses of this technology. It contends that generative AI offers significant benefits for research, but also amplifies risks such as fabricated references, AI-assisted plagiarism, fraudulent data generation, and the production of manuscripts without genuine intellectual oversight. From this perspective, the text maintains that explicit disclosure of substantial AI uses not only helps prevent the discrediting of science but also preserves methodological traceability and fosters a shared culture of good practices among researchers. It finally emphasizes that academic journals are in a strategic position to consolidate this pact through policies that encourage an integration of AI that expands, rather than replaces, human thought.
