• BCAT1 contains a redox-active CXXC motif that lowers intracellular ROS in U937 cells • WT BCAT1 expression is associated with reduced CD14/CD68, consistent with M2-like polarization • WT BCAT1 significantly increases EV release compared to CXXC-mutant and vector controls • Enhanced EV production occurs under both normal serum and serum-starved conditions • EV populations are predominantly CD63+, with serum starvation amplifying CD63+ EV release • BCAT1 and its CXXC motif play a previously unrecognized role in macrophage EV biogenesis
