Abstract

• Exergy destruction minimization is applied to optimize heat transfer of a PTR-IT. • Optimal flow field structure features a symmetrical pair of longitudinal vortices. • A finned PTR with inner tube (FPTR-IT) is designed to achieve optimal flow. • The FPTR-IT can increase Nusselt number by 110.42% and total efficiency by 2.77%.
