Fetuses are classified as large for gestational age (LGA) if their estimated fetal weight (EFW) exceeds the 90th percentile for gestational age. Although LGA alone is not an indication for cesarean delivery (CD), fetal macrosomia, defined as a fetus >= 4000 g, is associated with increased risk of shoulder dystocia and subsequent brachial plexus injury.
