Two methods for the ressource efficient control design in wireless networked control systems

In wireless networked control systems, not only classical control performance criterions (control error, transient behaviour) are of interest, but also network-induced effects such as delays, packet losses, jitter and limitations of the used hard- and software, such as CPU performance, RAM, battery energy or TPO. These parameters are often dependent from each other, e.g. a shorter sampling interval improves control performance but in-creases the node's energy consumption and network traffic. At the institute of automatic control at TU Kaiserslautern, the two autors participated in two separate DFG projects and investigated the efficient implementation of ressource constrained control algorithms in networked control systems.
