Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
Demodulation reference signal (DMRS) blind detection is a key step in cell search for 5th-generation new radio (5G NR) and future 6G wireless systems. However, conventional schemes suffer from high computational complexity and excessive processing latency, which makes them difficult to apply in low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications. This letter proposes an ultra-low-complexity physical broadcast channel (PBCH) DMRS blind detection algorithm for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) non-terrestrial networks. The proposed algorithm calculates the frequency response differences between adjacent subcarriers, computes the energy sum of these differences, and then searches for the minimum energy sum to determine the candidate DMRS sequences, without extra pilot overhead. Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) experiments demonstrate a 98.54% complexity reduction with only signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) penalties of 0.18 dB and 0.27 dB under non-terrestrial network-tapped delay line (NTN-TDL)-B and NTN-TDL-D channels.
