• MXene/TiO2-rGO with an interacting 3D network structure was prepared using MXene-derived TiO2 and 2D rGO. • MXene/TiO2-rGO was applied as cathode for hybrid capacitive deionization. • MXene/TiO2-rGO exhibited good desalination performance and superior cycling stability.
