• Fresh and recirculated SGD were evaluated using a combined geochemical approach. • Radon (222Rn), salinity–EC gradients, and nutrient fluxes served as key hydrogeochemical tracers. • Post- and pre-monsoon analyses reveal strong seasonal variability in SGD intensity. • Karstic conduits enhance focused groundwater discharge along the Tirunelveli coastline. • SGD-driven nutrient flux (DIN and DIP) plays a major role in coastal biogeochemical alteration.
