Abstract

• According to the boundary effect theory, the relationship “Fracture Load = Strength × Area” still holds when the CFRP laminate is under direct tensile conditions. • Based on the measurement principle of the four-electrode method, the relationship between the initial crack depth of the CFRP specimens and their electrical resistance changes was determined. • The fracture load of CFRP specimens with different initial cracks was successfully predicted based on the established crack-electrical resistance relationship.
