Abstract

• The solvated structure of Na+ in FEC electrolyte has been first reported. • EC/PC cell exhibits a low capacity decay rate of ∼0.013% per cycle after CEI stabilization. • MD simulates the desolvation structures of Na+ and the most probable configuration is obtained. • DFT calculates the energy barrier of desolvation process and explores potential mechanism of CEI formation.
