In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Bayer AG Crop Science Division submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to use conversion factors for the setting of maximum residue levels (MRLs) for prothioconazole. The applicant did not propose modification of the existing EU MRLs for prothioconazole, as currently set in Regulation (EU) 2024/1318. The data provided in the previous EFSA outputs and submitted under the present assessment were sufficient to derive crop-specific conversion factors for all crops under consideration, except for pulses, head cabbage and flowering brassica. For onions and shallots, the submitted data are considered to support a less conservative good agricultural practice (GAP). Moreover, the data submitted were found sufficient to confirm tentative MRLs for prothioconazole in leek, Brussels sprouts, barley, oat, wheat, rye grain and in commodities of animal origin. An updated EU livestock dietary burden indicates that lower EU MRLs would be sufficient in liver, kidney and edible offal of ruminants, swine and poultry and in the fat of ruminants and swine. EFSA concluded that the existing EU uses of prothioconazole will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the toxicological reference values and therefore are unlikely to pose a risk to consumers' health. All conclusions derived under the present assessment are considered provisional and might need to be reconsidered once the decision on the renewal of approval of prothioconazole (and related new endpoints) is implemented by the European Commission.
