• Pneumatic sparging-assisted two-step transesterification was developed. • The highest biodiesel yield of 99.50% with 10 ppm sulfur content was achieved. • Biodiesel minimum selling price calculated at 0.967 $/kg with 2.26-year payback. • Sulfur content was decreased 84.8% after the second transesterification. • Sustainable feedstock use reduces environmental impact and valorizes waste.
