• Mechanism of strength reduction in PPC mortar was elucidated via hydrophobic ITZ analysis. • Hazardous chlorine was chemically immobilized within stable Sodalite, ensuring safety. • High porosity of PPC enables functional valorization for lightweight and insulating uses. • Analysis confirms PPC as a feasible eco-material for non-structural applications.
