Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
A 1 & times; 2 asymmetric power splitter is designed based on slot waveguide, utilizing a multimode interference (MMI) structure. The variable power splitting ratio (PSR) is achieved by removing a rectangular region to disrupt the symmetry in the coupling area. The device is simulated using the effective refractive index method and eigenmode expansion (EME) solver. Theoretically, the PSR can be designed from 100:0 to 50:50, while the dimension of the MMI region is in the range of 1.4 & times; (1.7-2.68) & micro;m2. Simulation results show that the device exhibits a low excess loss of less than 0.4 dB, excellent fabrication tolerance, and a PSR fluctuation of less than 3.7% across the 1500 nm to 1600 nm wavelength range.
