Abstract

• To our knowledge, this study is the first report focusing on exosome-delivered viral miRNA mediating host immune escape during KHV infection in fish; • We clarified a complete regulatory axis: exosomal miR-004-5p -TBK1 suppression - inhibited IFN-I signaling / enhanced autophagy - KHV immune escape; • Different from previous studies focusing on host-derived exosomal miRNAs in aquatic animals, our work reveals that KHV hijacks host exosomal system to transport self-encoded miRNA for viral infection, filling a critical research gap in fish virology.
