• Synthesized novel metal-free urea-linked 2D COFs (TFP-TPU and TFP-BDU). • Comprehensive characterization confirmed the structures of both COFs. • Applied for Visible-light CO2 reduction and yielded formic acid and methanol efficiently. • TFP-TPU showed higher activity than TFP-BDU in photocatalytic CO2 reduction. • These COFs catalysts showed high selectivity, reusability, and low-cost photocatalysis.
