• Metal-free, water-soluble conjugated polyelectrolyte photocatalysts. • Simultaneous CO2 photoreduction and H2O2 production directly from air and pure water under solar light. • The synergic optimization of comonomers and their linkage sites to enahnce the photocatalytic performances. • Excellent yields of 871.6 μmol h⁻1 g⁻1 for CO and 1133.4 μmol h⁻1 g⁻1 for H2O2.
