• PSP and CBS are both 4R-tauopathies and can overlap in manifestations mutually. • PSP is divided into cortical and subcortical variants based on the presentations, and the cortical group contains PSP cortical variant and CBS. • The distribution of WMHs differs between the cortical and subcortical groups. • The difference of WMHs distribution complies with the cerebral venous territory.
