• The first study on willingness to pay (WTP) for bacteriophage-treated seafood. • Consumers´ mean WTP for 250 g phage-treated trout is €3.03 (DK) and €3.76 (GER). • 76% of Danes and 64% of Germans express a positive WTP for phage-treated trout. • Imply the potential for a shift from antibiotics to bacteriophage in aquaculture.
