Experimentally screening catalysts for performance, selectivity, or lifetime is one of the key steps in the development and research of novel catalytic materials. Commonly, however, complications from heat or mass transport limitations, mixing, thermodynamics, or experimental designs can cloud the interpretation and differentiation of the kinetic rate behavior of catalysts. Herein, guidelines for proper equipment setups and experimental designs are presented with the hope of improving kinetic resolution of catalyst screening results for increased data fidelity.
